Early detection and a systematic approach to prevention are key to preserving oral health in school-aged children.

Objective. To assess the dental status of children aged 6–10 years attending a private school in Almaty and to evaluate parental commitment to the prevention of dental diseases.

Materials and Methods. A clinical examination was conducted on 150 children aged 6 to 10 years. The prevalence of major dental pathologies was assessed. Additionally, a parental questionnaire was used to evaluate awareness and preventive practices in families.

Results and Discussion. A high prevalence of dental pathology was identified: dental caries was found in 93% of children, chronic catarrhal gingivitis in 55.1%, dentoalveolar anomalies in 28%, and non-carious enamel lesions in 6.9%. Oral mucosal and soft tissue abnormalities were diagnosed in 14.7% of the participants. Only one-third of the children regularly visited a dentist, and oral hygiene was monitored in fewer than half of the families.

Conclusion. The findings highlight the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to the prevention of dental diseases in schoolchildren. This should include educational programs for parents and students, regular preventive check-ups, and interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare and educational professionals.

Кey words: dental status, primary school children, caries, periodontal diseases, non-carious lesions, dentoalveolar anomalies, parental survey.

Received by the Editorial Office: 13.06.2026 Accepted for publication: 20.06.2026 Published online: 30.06.2026 UDC: 616.314.11 DOI: 10.70113/1815-9443.2026.10.59.005 EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE DENTAL STATUS OF PRIMARY

[32,9

post-890","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-02-2026","category-9"],"a3_pvc":
["GET
