Introduction. Dental arch deformities in adult patients require a comprehensive diagnostic approach. Biometric measurements allow an objective assessment of the anatomical and functional characteristics of the dentofacial system; in recent studies these indicators are effectively determined using digital measurements and quantitative 3D models [1–3].

Objective. To characterise dental arch deformities in adult patients on the basis of objective biometric indicators and to assess their clinical significance in orthodontic treatment planning.

Materials and Methods. This single-centre prospective descriptive study enrolled 10 adult patients (18–44 years) meeting predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Diagnostics were performed on plaster and digital 3D models; intercanine width, intermolar width, dental arch form and the Bolton ratio were determined. Method error was assessed using the Dahlberg formula and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).

Results. A high proportion of narrow arches was recorded (narrow tapered ≈50%, narrow ovoid ≈34%). Anterior Bolton discrepancies were found in approximately 44% of cases and overall discrepancies in approximately 25%. Mean intercanine and intermolar widths were higher in males. Given the small sample size, the results are presented in a descriptive format.

Conclusion. Biometric parameters are a useful tool for diagnosing dental arch deformities in adults and for individualising orthodontic treatment. Larger controlled studies are required to confirm these findings [1–3].
